"... side by side with the human race runs another race of beings, the inhuman ones, the race of artists who guided by unknown impulses, take the lifeless mass of humanity and by the fever and ferment with which they imbue it turn this soggy dough into bread and the bread into wine and the wine into song..."

  1. Like the article Kory. Wonder if there are any furhter statistics with how the cultural affects of Reality TV and the Dramadrain that is killing the cultural aspects of our younger generation.

Bye Bye Gen 10. Bye Bye future GDP growth. Here is a thought, not everyone can be a movie star. Movies are not real, and Reality Bites.

  2. Interesting comments. I like your way of phrasing some of these trends; "dramadrain" and "Gen 10." Clever. I have not heard either before.

I don't know what type of stats could be pulled to support an argument that reality TV is killing American culture. Of course, the counter to that position is "reality TV IS American culture." I am not sure where I stand on either side of that debate.

But I do agree with you 100 per cent when you say, "not everyone can be a movie star." It's not only that "movies" are not real; the word "reality" has transformed to not even mean "real" anymore. This is a scary concept. Young people are confusing the terms "Reality" and "Real." Media corps, like MTV, are very aware of this muddling and are cashing in on the haze.
